We are excited to be streaming a conversation with Lara Logan, CBS News Chief Foreign Correspondent, live from the duPont Winners’ Circle at Columbia Journalism School this Friday at 9:30AM EST.  You can tune in live at Columbia Journalism’s station on BlogTalkRadio here.
The discussion will be moderated by duPont Juror and former ABC News executive A’Lelia Bundles.  The duPont-Columbia University Awards have recognized excellence in broadcast journalism for the past 70 years so we are honored to give access to our listeners to this exclusive event.

Lara will discuss her career and her 2012 duPont Award-winning story from September 2010 CBS News “60 Minutes: A Relentless Enemy” about the war in Afghanistan. The conversation will also cover what it’s like to work as a foreign correspondent today, Logan’s almost two decade career covering news and conflicts around the world, her work at CBS News 60 Minutes and challenges and opportunities for journalists today. Also appearing with Logan will be longtime CBS News cameraman Ray Bribiesca who shot the breathtaking combat footage in the award winning piece.

On Wednesday morning at 10AM, Columbia Journalism School presents a revolutionary webcast, their first ever in Spanish, with Cuban blogger Yoani Sanchez (@YoaniSanchez) to discuss how social media breaks down the walls of censorship in Cuba and elsewhere.

Columbia University Taps into BlogTalkRadio with Virtual Open Houses

At BlogTalkRadio, we have long since believed that uses of our technology would benefit the university crowd. And today we can see this in action as Columbia University’s School of Journalism hosts virtual open houses for prospective and current students.

ColumbiaModerated by BlogTalkRadio host and dean of students, Sree Sreenivasan, the open houses provide a platform where current and prospective Columbia journalism students can learn about the NYC “J School” and ask questions about the program. From orientation to deadlines, students worldwide can jump geography and get answers they need in real time.

Today’s 10am ET episode features two back-to-back 30-minute chats with Dean Nicholas Lemann and Dean Evan Cornog, director of the Columbia Journalism School M.A. Program, who will answer questions and talk about the program.

Sree Sreenivasan is Dean of Students and runs the school’s new media department. He specializes in helping journalists use technology better and faster. His technology reports appear once a week on WNBC-TV (he was WABC-TV’s Tech Guru for six years) and he writes a weekly Web Tips column for Poynter.org.

Sree Sree is Dean of Student Affairs & professor at Columbia Journalism School; tech reporter for WNBC-TV; co-founder of South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA), and author of SreeTips.com and the New to Sree blog. He’s recently launched SreeTips on BlogTalkRadio.

Today at 3pm ET, SreeTips will be hosting Blogging for Journalists: Best Practices from SreeTips.com. Tips and advice for print and TV journalists who are now blogging. Topics will include: basics of blogging; how to get started; building traffic; building your blog’s brand; making money; taking it to the next level. It will be hosted by Sree and David Kohn, Baltimore Sun’s health and science reporter.
