Pierce Brosnan’s No Casanova: ‘I like having the stability of one woman’

Pierce-Brosnan-and-wife-Keely-Smith

“I remember Keely getting into the car in this cloud of a wedding dress and looking like a princess,” Pierce (right) tells us of his wife (left) on their 2001 wedding day.

Despite playing one of the world’s most famous lotharios in four smash-hit flicks, Pierce Brosnan believes in fidelity with all his heart.

When Wedding Day Radio host Robin Milling asks the former James Bond if he feels guilty about having intense relationships with women on the big screen while Keely Shaye Smith, his wife of 11 years, peers on, he replies:

“She calls it legal cheating. She said this at a dinner party one night and I just about choked on my shrimp! I’m a lucky guy.”

Then Pierce—whose new flick, All You Need Is Love, co-starring Danish beauty Trine Dyrholm, tells the story of a hairdresser who travels to Italy for her daughter’s wedding and falls for an angry widower—turns serious.

“It’s just a great job that I have to be able to play out the romance of life, the sexuality of life,” he says.

“However, if I were to go down every avenue, I wouldn’t be here. I’m not very good at such a life. I want to have my cake and eat it.

“I like to have the stability of one woman, a family and the continuity of that.”

Pierce and Keely were married Aug. 4, 2001 at Ballintubber Abbey in County Mayo, Ireland. The couple has two children, Dylan and Paris.

Wedding Day Radio, a three-part series presented by World Kitchen, launched in April and runs through June here on BlogTalkRadio. Tune in here.
