It’s Tuesday, and that means another installment of our SoundBits column is hot off the cyberpress. This week, we spotlight David Brown, who’s better known as Dr. Blogstein, host of the Radio Happy Hour. Since launching his BlogTalkRadio show way back in September 2007, the Hoboken, N.J., native has interviewed such famous faces as Shirley MacLaine, Ernest Borgnine, Evander Holyfield and supermodel Niki Taylor. Now let’s see how Dr. B. holds up under questioning.
Give us a 15-second pitch for your BlogTalkRadio show – why should listeners tune in?
The Radio Happy Hour is like hanging out with a group of your friends. Only we’re probably more fun than your friends – and we bring celebrities to hang out with us.
Tell us two things listeners would be surprised to learn about you?
I can’t ride a bicycle, and I tie my shoelaces using the “bunny ears” method.
Who’s your broadcasting hero?
You should really change this question to: “Do you listen to Howard Stern?” Because anyone hosting a radio show – whether on the Internet, AM, FM, satellite – is lying to you if they say they aren’t influenced by him. And if they’re not lying, and they name someone other than Howard, that someone was probably influenced by Howard.
If you could book any person on earth as a guest on your show, who would it be and why?
I would want any president of the United States, past or pres- ent (or even future), just so I can say that the most powerful person in the world has been on the Radio Happy Hour.
As we speak, what are you wearing?
None of your business, you weirdo creep!
What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever done while in the middle of hosting your show?
I’ve thrown a couple of major temper tantrums while hosting our show. Here’s one and here’s a rather ugly one. However, I’m proud to say that I’ve been temper tantrum-free for 15 months now. I’m really growing.
